Archive for February, 2011

Throughout 2010 and continuing into 2011 I have experienced some major server problems, often leaving my sites, or more properly termed, my clients sites, totally unavailable, or so slow to load that many visitors simply give up and leave. For this I owe them a heart felt apology. This server instability has also hurt our search engine rankings and damaged my credibility with my existing clients and potential future clients.

The following images show graphically the extent of the problem starting in October 2010. The red lines indicate the times that particular website was completely down, the yellow boxes indicate slowness and potential server problems. On the right you can clearly see the server “uptime” displayed in a percentage (i.e. 99.9%) since the monitor was activated. Click on the images to view a larger version.

7+ hours down tonight alone, and no clue why!

I understand these images only show a small sampling of the problem, so I invite you to look over the following status blog to get a better understanding of the extent of these server issues. (IX Status Blog Archives for CP9). My contract with IX web hosting is nearly run out and I am not sure I can justify renewing with this type of intermittent service. What makes things worse, they actually went up on my renewal fees! Not a very good business move considering the quality of service. Check back after February 18th 2011 to see if the sites are still up, if not, I wish you all the best and thanks for stopping by. And if you want to get in touch after that date you can still find me on FB, for now anyway.
